Dr. Jacqueline Koo, M.D., M.P.H., is a board certified ophthalmologist who comes to Peninsula Eye Physicians with additional fellowship training in corneal diseases, refractive surgery and glaucoma.  Dr. Koo has been practicing ophthalmology for over 10 years and has been with Peninsula Eye Physicians since 2007.  A Bay Area native, she was a National Merit Semi-Finalist at Henry M. Gunn High School in Palo Alto.  She graduated with high honors in Biological Sciences from Johns Hopkins University.  Dr. Koo also received a Masters of Public Health in epidemiology/biostatistics from the University of California at Berkeley.  Following U.C. Berkeley, Dr. Koo attended Boston University School of Medicine where she graduated in the top 10% of her medical school class.

She completed her ophthalmology residency at the Boston University Medical Center/Gunderson Eye Center.  Following residency, she was accepted at one of the top ophthalmology fellowships in the country, where she trained with Dr. Richard Lindstrom, M.D.  

Dr. Koo has extensive eye surgical experience and has participated in FDA trials of the newest eye technologies.  She continues to lecture about ophthalmology.  Dr. Koo is an author of  “Office Ophthalmic Procedures” a popular handbook for eye care professionals.  She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the San Mateo County Medical Society. 

Dr. Koo presently serves on the Mills-Peninsula Medical Center Continuing Medical Education Committee and she is the current Chair of the Mill-Peninsula Health Services Department of Ophthalmology.  She is married to Dr. Edward Sun M.D., an orthopedic surgeon, and they live on the Peninsula with their two young children.

Dr. Koo was voted "Top Bay Area Doctor 2019" in the Ophthalmology category by San Francisco Magazine.
